I read in The Acuarium and more directly http://blogs.sun.com/nazrul/entry/introducing_glassfish_update_center on another tthing that i did not know about Glassfish V2, the update center.

We have already seen that install glassafish is quite simple, so update it should not be a problem, but if they give us a very simple manager, better. The manager is very similar to the netbeans one, you can select much new modules you want to install, or update bugs solved or other improvements.

If they continue in the good way, this tool will be able to be especially useful with Glassfish V3. Already there has been seen in some screencast that it is very fast, and this is possible thanks to hk2 the microkernel that will allow glassfish to use only the modules that you need. If they achieve that this configuration could be realized in the update center or some very similar tool It would be incredible.

To initiate the tool we execute

%glassfish %/updatecenter/bin/updatemanager/updatetool

The first image, remember the update center of the netbeans

I have no experience with any of the modules that offers to download, and right now there are no updates, so I am only going to install the papers and the examples. Select 3 modules and I touch the install button.

After accepting the license the processes of discharge and installation begins. On having finished, three modules go on to installed software eyelash.

Finally the eyelash of preferences open a way for the community to create its own repositories of software. It can turn out to be an exageration, but perhaps we can update our applications with this tool.

It will be necessary to evaluate if this tool is productive or not, but in any case, it is an extra help to the managers of the server.
